Visions of Grandeur
Josiah was looking for a series of artworks for his Visions of Grandeur short story collection. He enjoyed a loose, B&W style and asked me to capture key pieces the stories. The tales are all set in Morshan, the land in which gods have descended and gifted men with super powers. Greed has stopped the golden age in its tracks and instead of the glorious renaissance, men are divided into factions by their greed or madness. There are only a few who seek unity and even that, it seems, is on a knife edge.
Here's what we came up with.

Rodirin City is split and its past glory is fading. The aim with this illustration was to show, by forced perspective, the grand scale of the split city and its connective bridge.
Ancropolis by air. Forced perspective again and pushing the lighting to direct the eye.
I love the foreboding and scale of the vertical line hand high-contrast creates in this illustration of Emiel entering the manor.
The style is rough but there are still some nice details here.
Morshan has war, and Sian finds herself in the middle of the struggle. With this illustration of her first entering the camp I wanted to push the mood. With a feeling of distance and Sian's smallness in the story.
